Gate Motor Repairs East Rand — Full Service List
Gate Motor Repairs East Rand Services We Offer
We provide professional gate motor repairs across the East Rand for residential homes, townhouse complexes, body corporates, airport-corridor rental properties, commercial premises, factories and industrial sites throughout Ekurhuleni. Our technicians repair Centurion D5-Evo, D5 Smart, D10 Smart, A10 and original D5 motors, plus DTS Elite, Hansa, ET, Nice ROBUS and Gemini, affected by load shedding, surge-damaged PCB control boards, burnt receiver modules, faulty batteries, worn gearboxes, heavy-gate wear and remote failures — sliding gates, swing gates and industrial gates alike.
The East Rand (Ekurhuleni) is a large, varied region — from the older industrial and mining-belt towns of Germiston, Boksburg, Springs and Brakpan, through the OR Tambo airport corridor around Kempton Park, to leafy Bedfordview and Edenvale. That mix means a wider brand spread than anywhere: plenty of older original Centurion D5, DTS Elite, Hansa and ET on long-established homes and factories, alongside current D5-Evo, D5 Smart and heavy-duty D10/A10 on commercial and industrial gates. The unstable East-Rand grid and highveld lightning make surge-board failure the leading fault. Whether your gate motor is completely dead, opening slowly, beeping continuously, humming without moving or stuck after a power outage, we provide fast same-day gate motor repairs right across the East Rand.
PCB Control Board Repairs & Replacement
Load shedding and the unstable East-Rand industrial grid are the number-one cause of gate motor PCB board failure across Ekurhuleni. We carry Centurion D5-Evo, D5 Smart, D10/A10 and original-D5 boards plus DTS, Hansa and Nice ROBUS boards in the vehicle for same-day on-site repair from Boksburg to Springs — no part ordering, no booking-in, no depot turnaround.
Original-D5, DTS & Hansa Older-Motor Repairs
The East Rand's established towns are full of older motors many companies avoid. All remotes dead but the button works = a burnt DTS receiver module (R700–R1,400, not a board). An original D5 that keeps failing has no surge protection and needs a D5-Evo upgrade. Hansa swing gates need brand-specific parts. We carry them all and repair or sensibly upgrade.
Load Shedding & Surge Repairs
The East-Rand grid is hard on gate electronics. We replace surge-damaged boards, receivers and chargers, fit a dedicated surge protector on every board replacement, and offer lithium-ion battery upgrades for longer backup through extended Ekurhuleni outages. Nice ROBUS gates always get both 24V batteries replaced together.
Heavy, Commercial & Industrial Gate Repairs
Germiston, Boksburg and the East Rand industrial belt run heavy commercial and factory gates on Centurion D10 Smart, A10 and Hansa. We repair, re-spec and service high-cycle and heavy-duty gates, offer business and body-corporate maintenance contracts, and prioritise commercial callouts where a stuck gate halts operations.
Original-D5 to D5-Evo Surge Upgrades
Across the East Rand's older suburbs, original Centurion D5 motors (no LCD, no DOSS) have zero surge protection and fail after almost every restoration spike. We upgrade to D5-Evo specification with a surge protector on the same callout, permanently ending the repeat board-failure cycle on the unstable local grid.
Remote, Receiver, Beam & Rail Repairs
After surges, remote and beam faults are common — 'opens but won't close' is almost always an IR beam issue, and all-remotes-dead is usually a receiver. We program and clone remotes, fit un-clonable rolling-code upgrades, replace receivers and beams, and handle rail, wheel and welding repairs on heavy gates on the spot.
Gate Motor Repairs East Rand — Local Context
The East Rand's Older-Motor, Heavy-Gate & Surge Specialists
We provide fast same-day gate motor repairs across the whole East Rand (Ekurhuleni) — Boksburg, Benoni, Kempton Park, Germiston, Edenvale, Bedfordview, Alberton, Springs, Brakpan and every suburb between — with quick access via the N12, N3, N17 and R21. We confirm same-day service on all standard callouts and run a 24/7 emergency line.
The East Rand's defining gate-motor issues come from its age and its grid. The older industrial-belt towns are full of original Centurion D5, DTS Elite and Hansa motors — where all-remotes-dead-but-button-works is a cheap DTS receiver (R700–R1,400), not a board, and an original D5 that keeps failing needs a D5-Evo upgrade, not another identical board. The unstable local grid and highveld lightning destroy boards, so we fit a surge protector on every board replacement. And the region's many heavy commercial and industrial gates need correctly-rated D10/A10 or Hansa motors, not a domestic slider.
We work the whole East Rand on the ground — the leafy homes of Bedfordview and Edenvale, the established residential of Benoni (Rynfield, Northmead, Farrarmere) and Boksburg (Beyers Park, Parkrand, Witfield), the OR Tambo airport corridor through Kempton Park (Bonaero Park, Edleen, Norkem Park), the industrial and commercial belts of Germiston (Primrose, Wadeville) and Springs, and Alberton and Brakpan. Because the region spans decades of development and heavy industry, we see the full brand spread — original D5, DTS Elite, Hansa and ET on older homes and factories, current D5-Evo and D5 Smart on newer installs, and D10/A10 on heavy commercial gates. We carry parts for all of them in the vehicle, and fit a surge protector every time against the East-Rand grid.
Gate Motor Dead in East Rand After Load Shedding?
If your gate motor stopped after load shedding, the first question is: does the gate respond when you press the button on the motor housing?
- Yes (button on the motor works) → almost always a DTS / receiver-module fault from the surge. Typical cost R700–R1,400, under 1 hour.
- No (button and remotes both dead) → usually a PCB/control board failure or charger damage from the spike. Typical cost R1,200–R5,500 depending on brand (original D5 / DTS lowest, D10/A10 industrial highest).
We diagnose over the phone and arrive with the correct part already in the vehicle for same-day gate motor repairs in East Rand. Call 061 402 6299.

East Rand's Gate Motor Repairs
DTS Elite Fault Guide — East Rand's #1 Most Repaired Brand
DTS Elite motors require specific diagnostic knowledge — their fault behaviour under load shedding differs significantly from Centurion or Gemini. Here is exactly what to expect from each DTS fault type in East Rand.
All Remotes Dead — Motor Button Works
The most common DTS fault in East Rand. The receiver module has been burned by a load shedding voltage spike.
Fix: DTS receiver module replacement. We carry DTS Elite 600 and Arrow receiver modules in stock. Remotes reprogrammed on same callout.
Completely Dead — Nothing Works
A severe surge destroys both the receiver module AND the main PCB board. No response to remotes, no response to the button, no lights, nothing at all.
Fix: Full PCB board replacement. We install a surge protector on the same callout (R450–R900) to prevent future failures permanently.
Moving Slowly or Grinding
DTS motors slowing down indicates depleted battery or dry gearbox oil. Many East Rand DTS motors have never had a gearbox oil service in 12–15 years of operation
Fix: Battery replacement and gearbox oil service. Done on the same callout for best value.
When to Replace DTS with D5-Evo
Older DTS installations in Rynfield, Farrarmere and Northmead with 3+ prior repairs now often make better financial sense to replace with a Centurion D5-Evo (from R7,500 installed) than to continue replacing fragile DTS components.
DTS Gate Motor Fault on the East Rand?
Tell us whether the gate responds when you press the button on the motor. We diagnose most faults over the phone and arrive with the correct replacement parts already stocked in the vehicle. Most Gate Motor Repairs East Rand callouts involving DTS, Centurion, ET Drive and Nice gate motors are completed quickly, often on the first visit.

Paskwa tip for East Rand homeowners and businesses:
this region has more older motors than the northern suburbs — original D5, DTS Elite and Hansa. Two faults get misdiagnosed constantly. If all your remotes died but the motor button works, that's a DTS receiver (R700–R1,400), not a board. If an original D5 keeps failing on our unstable grid, it has no surge protection — the fix is a D5-Evo upgrade with a surge protector, not another identical board. For factories, a stuck heavy gate needs a correctly-rated D10/A10, not a domestic slider. Call us and we'll confirm over the phone.
Repair or Replace
Should You Repair or Replace Your East Rand Gate Motor?
One of the most common questions East Rand homeowners and businesses ask is whether to repair the existing gate motor or replace it. Here's our honest framework — we'd rather repair where it makes sense than sell you a new motor you don't need.
When a repair is the right call
- The motor is a Centurion D5-Evo, D5 Smart, D10 Smart, A10 or a recent Nice ROBUS and the fault is a surge-damaged board, battery, receiver or beam — these are economical, in-stock repairs that restore a good motor.
- It's a DTS Elite with 'all remotes dead, button works' — a R700–R1,400 receiver module, never a reason to replace the whole motor.
- It's a Gemini that hums but won't move — a sub-R1,200 capacitor, fixed in under an hour.
- The gearbox, rail or wheels are worn but the electronics are sound — a service, rail/welding repair or wheel replacement is far cheaper than a new motor.
When an upgrade or replacement makes more sense
- It's an original Centurion D5 (no LCD, no DOSS) that keeps failing — don't keep paying for the same board; upgrade to D5-Evo spec with a surge protector once and end the cycle.
- A light residential motor has been fitted to a heavy or long gate and keeps burning out — re-spec to a correctly-rated D10 Smart, A10 or Nice ROBUS 1000 rather than repeating the failure.
- It's an obsolete or unsupported motor where parts are no longer made — replacement with a well-supported Centurion or Nice motor is the sensible long-term call.
- The repair cost approaches the cost of a new motor and the unit is old and tired across the board — replacement is better value.
Gate Motor Fault Codes — East Rand
Gate Motor Beeping in East Rand? Decode It Here
Centurion D5-Evo uses audible beep codes — common in Crystal Park and Brentwood Park newer installs. DTS Elite and ET Drive use LED indicators. Count Centurion beeps and match below.
Note: Nice ROBUS and Gemini use LED flash patterns rather than audible beeps for fault indication. Call us for model-specific LED diagnostic guides for East Rand residents.
2 Short Beeps (repeating)
Power failure detected. The motor is running on battery backup only — mains supply has been cut (load shedding or tripped breaker).
Action: Check if your mains power is on. If load shedding — normal operation. If mains is on — check the breaker and fuse. Battery still operational.
3 Beeps (periodic)
Low battery warning. Battery voltage has dropped below threshold — the motor will fail to operate the gate during the next power outage.
Action: Replace the battery within the next 2 weeks. R650–R950 for most East Rand brands. Do not ignore — next load shedding outage will leave your gate stuck.
4 Beeps every 10s
Collision detected or obstruction on track. The gate hit something, ran into an end-stop, or DOSS detected an anomaly on the travel path.
Action: Check the gate track for debris, stones or objects. Check that the gate moves freely by hand. Check safety beams are clean and aligned. Call us if persists.
Continuous single beep
Motor jammed, drive failure or end-stop fault. Gate is stuck mechanically or the motor drive circuit has failed (often after a power surge).
Action: Do not keep pressing the remote — this strains the motor. Use manual release to free the gate. Call 061 402 6299 — this usually needs a technician.
DTS Elite & ET Drive Gate Motors — LED Indicators, Not Beeps
DTS Elite and ET Drive gate motors use LED flash patterns for fault diagnostics instead of audible beep codes. If your motor is completely dead — no LEDs, no movement and no response after load shedding — tell us whether the gate responds when pressing the button on the motor housing. This helps us diagnose many Gate Motor Repairs East Rand faults over the phone and arrive with the correct replacement parts for a fast first-time repair.
Gate Motor Help East Rand
How to Manually Open Your Gate During Load Shedding in East Rand
East Rand's most-searched gate motor query. If your gate is stuck and you need to open it manually right now — follow these steps, then call us to fix the underlying fault same day.
⚠️ Safety First
Never disengage the motor on a sloped driveway without someone holding the gate. Once disengaged, the gate rolls freely and can seriously injure people or damage vehicles. If in doubt — call us first: 061 402 6299
General Steps — All Sliding Gate Motors
Find the Release Key/Lever
Every gate motor has a manual release — a key lock, red lever or pull-cord on the motor housing. Check the side or rear face. Your installer should have left you a flat manual release key on installation
Disengage from the Rack
Turn the key or pull the lever to disengage the motor's pinion gear from the gate rack. You'll feel or hear a click when properly disengaged. The motor no longer drives the gate.
Push the Gate Manually
The gate should now roll freely on its wheels. Push it open or closed by hand. If it doesn't roll easily, the issue may be the wheels or track — not the motor. Don't force it.
Re-Engage After Power Returns
Push the gate back to fully closed or open position and re-engage the motor (reverse step 2). Press remote — the motor re-learns limits on first operation. Call us if it doesn't re-engage.
Brand-Specific Instructions — East Rand
Centurion D5 / D5-Evo / D5 Smart / D6 Smart
Insert the flat manual release key into the keyhole on the motor's front face. Turn 90° clockwise. Gate can now be pushed manually. To re-engage: turn back counter-clockwise and remove key. Motor auto-learns limits on next remote press.
Centurion D10 Smart / D10 Turbo Smart
Pull the red/orange lever on the underside of the motor housing toward you to disengage the clutch. Gate is free to push. Push lever back in firmly to re-engage. Note: D10 estate gates are very heavy — have assistance before releasing.
Nice ROBUS 600 / 1000
Insert the key into the front cover's key slot. Turn to the open padlock symbol (🔓). Slide gate by hand. To re-engage, turn to locked padlock (🔒). ROBUS auto-runs a limit reset on first remote operation after re-engagement.
Gemini Slider 12AH / Pro 24V
Pull the orange release handle outward firmly — it clicks into disengaged position. Push gate by hand. Push handle back in until it clicks to re-engage. Gemini requires a limit-learn cycle — hold remote and gate re-learns its travel.
ET Drive 500 / 1000
Insert key into motor housing (front or side). Turn to open padlock symbol. Motor disengages from rack. To re-engage: turn to locked symbol and remove. Press and hold remote button to reset limits after re-engagement.
DTS Elite 600 / Arrow
Red or orange lever on the side of the motor casing. Pull outward to disengage. Push gate manually. Push lever firmly back in to re-engage. DTS auto-detects gate position on next remote operation.
Gate Won't Re-Engage After Power Returns?
DTS Elite and ET Drive gate motors are especially prone to re-engagement problems after load shedding and power restoration surges. If your gate motor disengaged during the outage and now refuses to return to automatic operation, the fault may be caused by internal gear misalignment, surge-damaged electronics or a failed locking mechanism. This is a common Gate Motor Repairs East Rand callout affecting residential and commercial properties across the region. Call 061 402 6299 for fast telephonic fault diagnosis and same-day repairs.

East Rand Gate Motor most Question
Claiming Gate Motor Surge Damage on Insurance in East Rand
DTS and ET Drive board and receiver replacements are claimable under home insurance power surge cover. Many East Rand homeowners pay multiple times out of pocket when they could claim each time.
Confirm Power Surge Cover
Call your insurer and confirm your policy includes "power surge" or "electrical surge" cover. Most standard home insurance policies in South Africa include this, but check your schedule of benefits to confirm your excess amount.
Get a Written Diagnosis
You need a written fault diagnosis report from a qualified technician confirming that power surge damage is the cause of failure — not wear-and-tear or improper installation. We provide this report on every East Rand callout at no additional charge.
Get a Parts + Labour Invoice
Your insurer needs an itemised invoice showing the part replaced (e.g. "Centurion D5-Evo PCB control board") and the labour cost. We issue this automatically on completion of every repair. Most policy excess amounts are R500–R1,500.
Submit Your Claim
Submit the fault diagnosis report and invoice with your claim form. Load shedding surge repairs costing R2,000+ are generally worth claiming. Smaller repairs (remote, battery) typically don't exceed the excess and are not worth claiming.
We Provide All Insurance Documentation
Our written fault diagnosis report is accepted by all major South African insurers including Outsurance, Santam, Discovery Insure, Old Mutual Insure, Hollard and King Price. We issue it automatically on every East Rand repair callout — you don't need to ask. Call 061 402 6299 and mention you'll need an insurance claim report.
Security Upgrades for East Rand Properties
Protect Your Motor — Upgrades for East Rand
A gate motor repair is the natural moment to close the security gaps that cost East Rand homeowners the most — surge damage, gate-motor theft and remote cloning. Most can be fitted on the same callout as your repair or service.
Anti-Theft Cage
Gate motors are theft targets in East Rand's older residential suburbs. Heavy steel cage bolted over the motor housing makes removal extremely difficult. Works with all major brands.
Surge Protector
Critical for DTS and ET Drive in East Rand — prevents the #1 East Rand gate motor fault permanently. Fitted on any callout in under 30 minutes. Essential for any Rynfield, Farrarmere or Northmead DTS installation.
Solar Backup + Larger Battery
Keeps battery topped up during extended Benoni load shedding. Combined with a 12Ah upgrade battery, gate operates through 4–6 hours of outage instead of 1–2.
Rolling Code Remotes
Older DTS and ET Drive fixed-code remotes can be cloned by criminals. Rolling-code remotes are impossible to clone. We upgrade receivers and remotes on all major East Rand brands.
Replace DTS/ET with D5-Evo
The most effective long-term upgrade for older East Rand DTS and ET Drive owners. Centurion D5-Evo installed — better surge protection, manufacturer warranty, 10–15 year lifespan vs ongoing fragile DTS/ET repairs.
Serial Number Engraving
Your motor's serial number engraved visibly onto the casing deters theft by making resale significantly harder. Low cost, permanent deterrent. Done on any callout in under 5 minutes.

Why East Rand Homeowners Choose Paskwa
DTS & ET Drive Specialists —East Rand's Most Common Brands
The East Rand has more older and industrial motors than almost any region — original D5, DTS Elite, Hansa, ET and heavy commercial gates — on an unstable grid that destroys boards. Most northern-suburb companies dispatch a distant 'team on the road' and quote a board when it's a R700 receiver. We know these motors, carry the older parts, handle heavy and industrial gates, and fit a surge protector every time. Here's what sets us apart.

Frequently Asked Questions — Gate Motor Repairs East Rand
East Rand Gate Motor Repairs FAQ
Which East Rand towns do you cover?
The whole East Rand (Ekurhuleni) — Boksburg, Benoni, Kempton Park, Germiston, Edenvale, Bedfordview, Alberton, Springs and Brakpan, plus their suburbs (Rynfield, Northmead, Beyers Park, Parkrand, Bonaero Park, Edleen, Primrose, Wadeville, Brackendowns and more), via the N12, N3, N17 and R21. Same-day service on standard callouts, 24/7 emergency line. Call 061 402 6299.
How quickly can you reach me on the East Rand?n on the motor works — what is wrong?
We offer same-day service on all standard East Rand callouts and run a 24/7 emergency line. We carry the common Centurion, DTS, Hansa and heavy-duty boards in the vehicle, so most repairs are a first-visit fix. Commercial and industrial callouts are prioritised. Call 061 402 6299 any time.
What gate motor brands are most common on the East Rand?
A wider mix than the northern suburbs, because it's an older, industrial region: a heavy base of original Centurion D5, DTS Elite, Hansa and ET on established homes and factories, current D5-Evo and D5 Smart on newer installs, and D10 Smart / A10 on heavy commercial and industrial gates. Bedfordview/Edenvale have some Nice ROBUS. We carry all of them in stock.
My remotes are all dead on the East Rand but the motor button works — what's wrong?
On older Centurion DTS Elite motors that's a burnt receiver module — the radio receiver killed by a surge. The button bypasses the receiver, which is why it still works. It is NOT a main-board fault. Receiver replacement is R700–R1,400, under an hour. We carry DTS receivers in stock.
Why does my original D5 on the East Rand keep failing?
The original Centurion D5 has zero dedicated surge protection, and the unstable East-Rand grid produces sharp restoration spikes that destroy the board. Replacing it with another identical board just repeats the problem. The permanent fix is a D5-Evo-spec upgrade board with a surge protector, same day, same callout.
Do you repair heavy commercial and industrial gates on the East Rand?
Yes — it's a regional speciality. Germiston, Jet Park, Wadeville and Alrode run heavy factory and commercial gates on Centurion D10 Smart, A10 and Hansa. We correctly rate, repair and service them, prioritise commercial callouts (a stuck gate halts operations), and offer business maintenance contracts with priority SLA and invoicing.
How much does gate motor repair cost on the East Rand?
DTS receiver R700–R1,400 · DTS PCB board R1,200–R2,500 · original D5 or D5-Evo upgrade R1,800–R3,800 · D5-Evo board R2,200–R3,800 · D10/A10 industrial board R2,800–R5,500 · ROBUS logic board R1,200–R4,000. Free diagnosis, no call-out fee. Hansa/ET and business plans are POA.
Do you repair older Hansa, ET and DTS motors others won't touch?
Yes — that's an East Rand speciality for us. The established towns and factories here run plenty of original D5, DTS Elite, Hansa and ET motors. We carry or source parts for all of them and will repair or sensibly upgrade rather than insist on a full replacement.
Why do I need a surge protector on my East Rand gate motor?
The unstable East-Rand industrial grid and highveld lightning are the number-one cause of board failure here. A dedicated surge protector (R450–R900) sits between your DB board and the motor and absorbs the spike before it reaches the electronics. We fit one on every board replacement.
Can I claim gate motor surge or lightning damage on insurance on the East Rand?
Yes — D5-Evo, DTS, D10/A10 and ROBUS board replacements are claimable under most SA home, complex and business insurance power-surge and lightning cover. We provide written fault diagnosis reports free on every callout, accepted by all major SA insurers.
Do you do rail, wheel and welding repairs on heavy East Rand gates?
Yes — heavy and industrial gates often need more than electronics. We handle rail repairs, wheel replacement and welding on the spot, alongside the motor repair, so a gate that's off the rail or grinding is fixed properly in one visit.
Do you offer 24/7 emergency gate motor repairs on the East Rand?
Yes — 24/7 including weekends and public holidays. After-hours surcharge R400–R800. A real technician answers 061 402 6299, including for a stuck commercial or industrial gate out of hours.
Do you fit rolling-code remotes for East Rand and airport-corridor properties?
Yes. Older fixed-code remotes can be cloned with cheap code-grabbers — a real risk, especially on Kempton Park rental and airport-corridor properties. Rolling-code remotes generate a new encrypted code on every press and can't be cloned. Upgrade R700–R1,600
How often should I service my East Rand gate motor?
Every 12 months for homes; every 6 months for high-cycle commercial and industrial gates. Service covers gearbox oil, battery voltage, rail/wheel check, surge-protector test and (on older motors) an upgrade assessment. Plans from R950/gate/year; business multi-gate plans POA.
Do you install new gate motors on the East Rand?
Yes — Centurion D5-Evo, D5 Smart, D10 Smart, A10 and Nice ROBUS supply and installation, correctly rated for residential, commercial and industrial gates. Full installation with rail, rack, beams, remotes and programming. From R5,500. Call 061 402 6299 for a quote.
Is it cheaper to repair or replace my East Rand gate motor?
Usually repair — and we'll tell you honestly on site, free. A surge-damaged board, battery, receiver or capacitor on a good Centurion, Nice or DTS motor is an economical fix. We only recommend replacement or an upgrade when a motor is obsolete, an original D5 keeps failing, a light motor is wrongly fitted to a heavy gate, or the repair cost approaches a new motor. No call-out fee, price quoted before we start.
Do you charge a call-out fee on the East Rand?
No call-out fee and free diagnosis on standard East Rand callouts. You get a clear, itemised price before any work starts. After-hours emergency callouts carry a R400–R800 surcharge, agreed upfront.
My gate motor is making a grinding noise or has come off the rail — can you fix that?
Yes. Grinding is usually a dry, unserviced gearbox; coming off the rail means worn wheels, a bent rail or a foundation issue. We service the gearbox, replace wheels, and weld and re-align rails on site — heavy East Rand and industrial gates often need this mechanical work alongside the electronics. R450–R1,800 depending on the work.
